Dubai In 72 Hours

Thinking of traveling to Dubai, but unsure of the entry requirements, where to stay, what to do while there and what to pack? I’ve got you covered!

I recently traveled to Dubai for three days to celebrate a friend’s birthday (3 days definitely isn’t enough time to explore this beautiful city), but I’d like to share with you how you can make the most out of your trip if you’re not able to stay longer.

When planning, an important thing to consider is the time difference (9 Hours ahead of those on CST) and travel time. It will typically take a day and a half (or longer, depending on your departure location) to get to Dubai. When selecting the dates you will visit, please keep this in mind.

Entry Requirements

Effective February 26, 2022, passengers traveling to Dubai from all countries (GCC included) must fulfill one of the below requirements

  1. Present a valid vaccination certificate(s) reflecting that the passenger is fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the WHO or the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and includes a QR code; or

  2. Present a valid Negative Covid‑19 Test certificate that should be based on a molecular diagnostic test intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid for SARS‑COV‑2 viral RNA, that is issued within 48 hours from the time of sample collection and issued by an approved health service provider, with a QR code; or

  3. Present a valid medical certificate issued by the relevant authorities that the passenger has recovered from Coronavirus SARS Covid‑19 within a period of one (1) month from the date of recovery to the date of arrival, with a QR code

What To Do

With having a short window of time in Dubai, we wanted to ensure we made the most out of our trip. In doing so, we went with the following activities.

What To Pack

Depending on the time frame that you’ll be traveling to Dubai, there are some things that you may want to consider packing, especially if you’re traveling during the summer months. In my case, I visited in August and below are the things I packed:

  • JISULIFE Portable Handheld Fan

    • This fan definitely came in handy. Not only did it help with cooling us off, but it also has a USB port that can be utilized to charge your device. The battery life is around 21 hours, so it should last throughout the day. Be sure to charge it at night.

  • Brita Plastic Water Filter Bottle

    • Staying hydrated is key to being able to enjoy your trip. Having clean water while on the go is always a plus.

  • Type G Plug Adapter

    • Type G plugs are utilized in Dubai. Traveling from the US, you’ll need these in order to charge your devices. While most hotels and planes have upgraded to provide USB ports for charging, there’s always a chance (very high) that this may not be available.
