Away Luggage Review
If you like to travel as much as I do, having luggage that is durable is very important. Prior to exploring new luggage, I had two trusted (Old faithful’s if you will) that I used. One piece would stop rolling at random times making it hard to navigate through airports and the other showed more than enough signs of wear and tear from previous travels. With this in mind, I set out to find luggage that would not only be durable, but luggage that would also provide the option of charging devices. In doing so, I stumbled across Away luggage.
To meet my travel needs, I decided to go with The Large and The Bigger Carry-On (w/ battery) in Pantone (Classic Blue). See the picture below.
Let’s talk about the pros and cons of Away’s luggage.
Pros
100-Day Trial Period- You are able to test the luggage and return it without issue if unsatisfied.
Lifetime Warranty is included at no additional cost
Away offers various colors, which allows your luggage to stand out among others
4 size options
Customization- You have the option of customizing your luggage and luggage tags
Battery Option- provides up to 4 full cellular device charges when charged completely and 2 items can charge at a time. (Don’t worry, it’s TSA approved and you don’t have to remove the battery as this option is only included on the carry-on luggage).
TSA approved combination lock
360° spinner wheels, which makes it easy to move through the airport
The luggage is very light
A luggage cleaner sponge is provided
Each piece of luggage comes with a laundry bag
Fast shipping, even with customization
Quick and efficient customer service (when ordering, I had an issue and although the issue was resolved via email, it was handled quicker than expected)
Cons
The luggage is a bit smaller than expected. For example, the large felt more like a medium in my opinion. However, I was shocked at how much I was able to pack by using packing cubes (I only took the large and bigger carry-on for a 6 month work trip)
Pricing- While Away offers various selections and the bells and whistles, keep in mind it comes with a hefty price tag. Here are the luggage prices: The Carry-On (From $225), The Bigger Carry-On (From $245), The Medium (From $275) and The Large (From $295). There are other options such as packing cubes, totes, etc. online for purchase as well.
I would suggest purchasing an outer shell protector or a darker color as the material scratches pretty easily. (Each piece of luggage comes with a luggage cleaner sponge)
As you can see, the pros outweigh the cons. So far, I’m more than happy with my decision. If you’re thinking of purchasing new luggage, I’d say give Away a try. Yes, the price may be hefty, but it would make a great long-term investment. Especially, if like me, you not only like traveling but also staying connected while on the go.
